Can rabbits eat Capeweed? 

Capeweed is very common in Australian gardens and has a yellow flower that kids often play with ("he loves me, he loves me not, he loves me, he loves me not...") and may want to feed to the family bunny, thankfully its safe for them to do so!

Yes, it is safe for rabbits to eat Capeweed in small amounts. It should not be a staple of their diet, but a few leaves every day or a nibble in the garden is OK. 

How much Capeweed can my rabbit eat? 

A few leaves or a brief nibble every few days is OK. As always, watch your rabbit to make sure they don't have any adverse reactions the first time. 

Critical to remember!!

As Capeweed is a weed (duh!) many gardeners and farmers will spray it with weed killer to get it out of their lawn/crops. If you plan on feeding your rabbit Capeweed, make sure it has not been sprayed with weed killer first....rabbits don't jive with weed killer at all. Contact a vet immediately if you think your rabbit has had weed killer.

As always, rabbits should eat mainly hay and fresh vegetables with some fruit thrown in for variety!
